Biography

Well-known for her crystal clear voice, and flawless taans, Anjali Malkar is a versatile musician. Anjali believes that for her, music is a sadhan (tool) to know oneself. Her music uniquely reflects this belief through her transparent voice and meaningful expression. Anjali walks her multidimensional path as a performing artist as well as an equally diligent researcher, student and an ever-experimenting teacher of Hindustani Classical Music.

Anjali was initiated into music at an early age by her mother Smt.Tara Basole. Her musical aptitude was further nurtured by renowned gurus like Pt. Madhusudan Bhave, Pt. Yashvant Kshirsagar and Pt.C.R.Vyas. After completing her post graduation in classical music from SNDT Pune in first class degree, she pursued her passion under the able tutelage of Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe. Her dedication to obtain proficiency in the chosen vocation further took her to learn the deep intricacies of khayal gayaki from renowned vocalist and guru of Gwalior and Jaipur gharana, Dr.Vikas Kashalkar and vidushi Kumudini Katdare. Anjali also enjoys singing devotional renditions like Abhangs and Nirguni bhajans and has received wide appreciation all over.

Anjali has a very deep rooted social consciousness in the field of Music. Her strive to make classical music more appreciable and enjoyable to common listener, lead her to conceive some thematic programmes like: Barkha Ritu Ayee, Tarana, Prakashyatri Kusumagraj, Rang Basant and Namaa Mhane, Raag Rang Ras Gavo, & Soor Shravani which were applauded by great musicians like Swaryogini Prabha Atre, Namaa Mhane had participation of renowned singers like Shaunak Abhisheki, and Raghunandan Panshikar.

Her dedication to make classical music more friendly to all the lovers of music,further took her in writing articles on classical music. Marathwadyatil Abhijaat Sangeet- a book that documented 700 years history of classical music in Marathwada region of Maharashtra has been a pioneering work of this sort. She also has two Cds Piya and Abhivyakti: an expression in her credit

Anjali is the Director of Roop Bandish Foundation in Pune. She is also a visiting faculty of music at Bharati Vidyapeeth Pune. As an ever experimenting teacher, she also teaches classical Music online and has students worldwide.
